Nan Burke - Glass Artist
For glass artist Nan Burke, kilnformed glass offers many exciting properties, including texture, color, transparency and the ability to be shaped and fused with heat. She enjoys working with glass to achieve the effects that she wants, whether it’s representing the interplay of light and surfaces in nature or giving a fabric-like texture to a bowl.
To refresh herself as an artist, Nan takes workshop courses from a variety of internationally known instructors in kilnformed glass. She established her Westborough, MA studio Quicksilver Glass in 2004 after a 20-year career in the computer industry.
Nan was a columnist for GLASS: Craftsman, writing the Cool Tools and Hot Ideas series, and for Glass Patterns Quarterly, wrote the Out of the Box series.
