Jean Holtey knits everything by hand, rather than machine, because she loves the feel of yarn—especially luxury fibers such as cashmere, silk and alpaca. Since she is the owner of a yarn shop, she has a treasure trove of different colors and textures at her fingertips. She likes to experiment with specialty yarns, combining them in unique ways that can never be duplicated. Some of these one-of-a-kind pieces also have unusual buttons, trim and other embellishments.

Jean’s collection at Clever Hand includes items for both adults and children. She uses easy care wools and cotton for her baby hats and sweaters. For her women’s hats and scarves, she often chooses bright colors and novelty yarns—sure to raise anyone’s spirits in cold, gray weather.
